Role Title:  Apprentice BIM Engineer

Start Date: September 2026

Location: Belfast

Job Description:

Your work will go beyond models and drawings — it will play a part in creating places and solutions that make differences

As an Apprentice BIM Engineer, you will gain hands-on experience using digital tools, 3D modelling and information management techniques to support real engineering and construction projects. With guidance from experienced BIM, engineering, and digital delivery professionals, you will:

  • Support the creation of accurate 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Revit.
  • Assist in setting up and managing project information within Common Data Environments (CDEs), following ISO 19650 principles.
  • Help with clash detection and coordination activities across multidisciplinary models.
  • Work alongside engineers to understand how technical designs are developed and checked.
  • Support the preparation of BIM documentation such as Task Information Delivery Plans (TIDPs) and/or modelling protocols.
  • Contribute to structured asset information using systems like Uniclass.
  • Assist in basic digital reporting, dashboards, and data-driven tasks.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors in a supportive project environment.
  • Take part in training, workshops and learning activities to build your digital and technical capability.

Tetra Tech colleagues take pride in delivering for clients, working together to ensure projects are delivered in the most effective way. This often requires colleagues to be together in person - in offices or on site - collaborating to ensure the best outcomes for both clients and colleagues. However, we also strongly advocate a hybrid approach that gives as much flexibility as possible around how, when, and where you work.

There is no 'one approach fits all' for our people – each team manages their own way of working. Your hiring manager can discuss what this looks like with you at interview.

Our people-focused culture includes a programme of mental health first aiders, wellbeing and fitness challenges, diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility groups, and a comprehensive selection of benefits that you can choose from to best suit your needs.
