Bull handling, livestock husbandry team. This team of four is responsible for the handling of the bulls for the production of semen, it requires people with experience of working with cattle, who are patient, empathetic to animals and have the welfare and husbandry of animals as their focus on a daily basis. This team are responsible for feeding the bulls, making sure they receive the appropriate ration on a daily basis, are bedded and comfortable, are clean and healthy and disease risks are kept to a minimum on our bio-secure unit. The individual will need to be experienced in handling stock, familiar with bulls and willing to make Health & Safety of themselves and colleagues a priority when working on site. This person shall also be required to drive machinery and have or achieve the appropriate licence for using the various pieces of equipment on site.
Store & Distribution - We deliver Liquid nitrogen which is a Dangerous Good to farms across NI on a daily basis, this gas is used to preserve high value straws of semen within farm flasks. These are serviced every quarter and straws of semen delivered into these flasks by our team of delivery drivers upon order throughout the year. We deliver upwards of 400,000 straws of semen to customers province wide annually, so there is a busy store where our team of store operatives pick and pack these straws ready for distribution. Our delivery drivers make multiple drops on a daily basis to farms supplying not only straws of semen or liquid nitrogen, but also colostrum, flasks, gloves, sheaths, chalk, lubricant and a multitude of other products used by farmers and technicians.
Our team of inseminators cover the country performing Artificial Insemination (not to be confused with artificial intelligence) on cattle, both pedigree and commercial cattle. Our technicians are busy year round, however peak months for breeding in the dairy sector is from December to February as cows calve and the cycle of life begins again. Inseminators may perform single inseminations on farms or undertake large scale synchronisation programmes of 50 animals so no two days are the same when on rota.
Our small team of Embryo technicians work across the whole island undertaking embryo transfer work including the harvesting of eggs following a flushing programme and the implantation of the eggs for fertilisation and production of a calf. This work is undertaken on many pedigree breeder farms and for those who are involved within the showing of cattle and commercial showring competitions.
Our sales team are always on the road dealing with their existing customers and seeking to attract new business through showcasing the bulls within our catalogues and promotion of our services. Our sales team cover the whole of NI and deal with small and large farms both dairying and beef production, so they are very familiar with livestock breeding and genetic advancement.
Our lab team process and analyse the semen collected from our bulls on stud, checking for motility and mobility and ensuring that is of the highest standard and passes our quality control checks. Our customers only receive semen of the highest quality to give them every opportunity for having a successful pregnancy within their animals and to advance the rate of genetic gain within their herd. All of the IOT sensors feed regular data into our lab, allowing for data analysis to be undertaken of the semen to ensure that we are providing our customers with a quality product and bulls are producing efficiently.
