We are Northern Ireland's shared ownership provider. Since 1978 we have helped over 35,000 homeowners and currently support over 11,000 homeowners across Northern Ireland.
We've build an organsiation led by people who understand housing, and care about our customers. Our team brings diverse expertise - from housing policy and finance, to customer support and legal conveyancing.
We help people who are unable to buy a home on their own due to affordability issues, being unable to save for a deposit or having a modest income.
Our co-owners take as large a share as they can afford to start with, between 50% and 90% of the property price. They can then increase that share at any time by buying more of their property. We are a charity, and a registered housing association, regulated and part-funded by the Department for Communities.
We've been helping people buy homes in Northern Ireland since 1978. We offer two routes to home ownership:
Co-Own – our main product suitable for first time buyers and those returning to home ownership.
Co-Own for Over 55s – tailored for those aged 55 and over who want to move to a more suitable home as they get older, but need our help.
Last year we helped 961 customers buy homes, and 770 co-owners bought out our share and now own their home without our help.
Buying a home can feel challenging, especially if the full purchase price or deposit is out of reach. Co-Ownership offers an affordable home ownership solution through shared ownership, helping you move into a home sooner without needing to buy it all at once.
With Co-Ownership, you purchase the share of the property you can afford. We purchase the rest. You pay a mortgage on your share and a low rent on ours. This reduces the upfront cost of buying and keeps monthly payments manageable.
Over time, as your circumstances change, you can increase your share, even up to full ownership if that’s your goal. There’s no pressure and no fixed timeline. You move at a pace that works for you.
