CITB NI (Construction Industry Training Board NI) is responsible for encouraging construction employers in Northern Ireland to train their employees so they are safe and productive.
CITB NI is a Non-Departmental Public Body reporting to the Department for the Economy.
CITB NI’s role is to encourage the adequate training of those employed or intending to be employed in the construction industry in Northern Ireland and to improve the skills and productivity of the industry.
This means working with the colleges of FE and other training providers to make sure the qualifications necessary to work in construction meet the needs of employers. We promote construction as a career choice for young people, we support diversity in the industry such as promoting opportunities for women, we provide grants to employers in exchange for the provision of training. We also provide health and safety training on our Mobile Training Unit and scaffolding training at our training centre.
As we are a statutory body and the money we handle is known as public money, we have to ensure that we are managed efficiently and effectively.
We employ staff as administrators, project managers, accounting technicians, premises officers, HR and Marketing professionals to name a few.
