Engineer
As a company we have recognised that not all talented young people will want to go down the traditional university route to become a structural or civil engineer. In order to ensure we are gaining access to the best candidates to help grow our team we have extended our annual recruitment to include apprentices. Employing apprentices will enable us to train and develop a young person while supporting them with their academic studies providing us with an engineer who grows and develops over an extended period of time.
Joanne Irvine, Human Resources Manager, Design ID
"As an apprentice you do not need to worry about finance and how costly your university experience could be, as it is all paid for by your training providers. It has been interesting for me to experience how an engineering company operates, and the amount of thought that goes into every process. The apprenticeship route has given me such a variety of tasks and experiences which you cannot get from a full-time course.
Robert Holland, Civil Engineer Apprentice, Design ID
