Northern Ireland Electricity Networks (NIE Networks) is a member of the ESB Group. We own, build and maintain the electricity network for everyone in Northern Ireland no matter who bills you for your energy. We have a varied geographically spread workforce of circa 1600 employees and we offer a broad range of career opportunities.

We have a great opportunity available to join the Human Resources team in NIE Networks based at Danesfort (Stranmillis, Belfast). The HR & Payroll team supports the administration of changes and updates to the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and employee self-service portal alongside administration of various employee benefits schemes and associated scheme portals. The team currently supports circa 1600 employees.

We are seeking a highly motivated, individual who will once fully trained will be able to provide a comprehensive HR administrative service  to the HR team and the wider organisation. On commencement of the apprenticeship you will receive a full overview and appreciation of the organisation to understand how the business operates. Next you will work alongside the HR Administration team and receive hands on experience of the role while completing a Business Administration Level 3 course at college on a day release basis.


The role

We are seeking a highly motivated, individual who will once fully trained will be able to provide a comprehensive HR administrative service to the HR team. 

The HR Administrator role will be responsible for;

  • transferring successful applicants from recruitment to HRIS;
  • initiating the onboarding process for new starts and ensuring that all associated documentation is processed in an efficient and effective manner;
  • applying post changes and changes to employee terms and conditions;
  • producing accurate and timely HR related reports;
  • maintenance of employee self-service portal and post to post reporting;
  • maintenance of employee records;
  • updating and cleansing of employee data;
  • Application of monthly salary progressions to ResourceLink.  
  • To develop an understanding and working knowledge of our salary scales/grades
  • Digital Scanning of HR/Payroll documentation on to employees’ records
  • Supporting the wider HR & Payroll team, as and when required.

What are we looking for

It is essential that you meet the following eligibility criteria: -

  • Good standard of education with a minimum of 5 GCSE’s grades A - C (or equivalent) which must include English Language and Mathematics
  • Effective IT skills with a knowledge of Excel, Word and Powerpoint applications within the Microsoft office suite
  • Good standard of organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to easily to others
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative
  • Effective written skills
  • The ability to work as part of an effective team 
  • Ideally a full driving licence

The job requires a considerable degree of commitment, flexibility and adaptability on the part of the post holder to meet quality standards and work deadlines. There is also a requirement to be available to work out of hours in the event of a weather related escalation.

The remuneration package for this position will be on appointment £17 383 per annum.   On successful completion of the apprenticeship programme future progressions will be based on the Administration Assistant competency-based progression arrangement.
