Disability Action

About the role

The pupil will take part in a structured work experience placement over two half-days, offering an introduction to the work of Disability Action. Activities may include:

• Shadowing staff across services such as pre-employment support, in-work support, and training delivery

• Supporting with basic administrative tasks, including data entry or preparing materials for meetings

• Assisting with event planning or community outreach activities

• Gaining insight into inclusive employment practices and workplace accessibility

• Attending informal team meetings or briefings to understand the workings of a third-sector organisation


All activities will be tailored to the pupil’s interests, abilities, and support needs, ensuring a positive and meaningful experience.

What are we looking for

We welcome applications from pupils who are enthusiastic about gaining experience in a supportive, inclusive workplace. While no previous work experience is required, pupils should ideally demonstrate the following:

Essential:

Willingness to learn and try new tasks
A respectful and inclusive attitude toward others
Good listening and communication skills
Ability to follow instructions and ask for help when needed
Interest in the work of Disability Action and supporting others

Desirable:

Interest in careers related to employment and skills, community work, advocacy, communications, or administration
Basic IT skills (e.g. using a computer, typing, etc.)
Ability to work as part of a team
