5-Day Work Experience – Bus Services Operations
Day 1: Introduction to Bus Operations
The student is introduced to the bus services environment, including health and safety procedures, depot layout, and team roles. They observe how services are planned and how daily operations are coordinated.
Day 2: Service Planning and Scheduling
The student learns how bus timetables are created and how routes are planned. They observe how staff manage disruptions, delays, and real-time service changes while ensuring passengers are kept informed.
Day 3: Fleet and Vehicle Management
The student gains insight into vehicle checks, maintenance schedules, and the importance of safety inspections.
Day 4: Customer Service and Control Systems
The student explores how customer enquiries, complaints, and feedback are handled. They observe control room systems used to monitor services live and assist drivers with route and operational support.
Day 5: Review, Reflection and Career Pathways
The student reflects on their experience, discusses what they have learned, and explores future career opportunities within bus services operations. They receive guidance on next steps, training routes, and employability skills.
