About the role

The Planning Section is part of the Economic Development and Planning Directorate of the Council, the work includes

- Assessment of planning applications

- Investigation of alleged breaches in planning control 

- Local Development Plan development


This placement will provide an opportunity to gain an understanding of Local Government Planning functions and roles available, including

- Sessions with Planning Officers to understand the roles:

a)   Development Management Officer

b)   Development Management Senior Officer

c)   Local Development Plan Officer

- Potential to assist with preparation for Planning Committee 

- An introduction to assessing a planning proposal on site
