About the role

The Planning Section is part of the Economic Development and Planning Directorate of the Council, the work includes

Assessment of planning applications

Investigation of alleged breaches in planning control 

Local Development Plan development

This placement will provide students with opportunity to gain an understanding of Local Government Planning functions and roles available, including

Sessions with Planning Officers to understand the roles:

a)   Development Management Officer

b)   Development Management Senior Officer

c)   Local Development Plan Officer

Potential to assist with preparation for Planning Committee 

An introduction to assessing a planning proposal on site
