The student will be shadowing the Manufacturing Engineering team to gain hands-on experience in the production and engineering processes involved in manufacturing. The placement will provide exposure to the planning, design, optimisation, and troubleshooting of manufacturing systems and processes, as well as an understanding of the technologies used in modern manufacturing environments.
Shadowing Manufacturing Engineers:
- Accompany the Manufacturing Engineering team during their daily activities, observing how they plan, design, and optimise manufacturing processes.
- Assist with small tasks such as taking notes, gathering data, or preparing materials for engineering meetings.
Process Documentation:
- Assist in documenting engineering processes and procedures, ensuring all steps are recorded accurately for future reference.
- Learn how to create or update process flow charts, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Collaborating with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Work alongside other teams, such as Quality, Maintenance, and Production, to understand how manufacturing engineering integrates with other departments.
Supporting Design and Modifications:
- Assist in reviewing and supporting the design and modification of manufacturing equipment or layouts to improve efficiency and safety.
- Observe how engineers work with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software or other tools to plan and develop manufacturing system
