About us

We’re home to freelancers, start-ups and entrepreneurs.

We operate our space with our partners Barclays Eagle Labs and have established a great network of investors and mentors as well as business support services and events, creating a culture for start-ups and small businesses to collaborate, grow and thrive.

Every nook & cranny of our historic building has been intentionally designed to facilitate deep creative work and collaboration between local entrepreneurs. We even have our own event space, media lab, and podcast studio powered by Best of Belfast, sharing the stories of local people and helping bring community together

Our work

At Ormeau Labs, we turn ideas into practical, high-impact solutions. We work at the intersection of research, technology, and applied innovation, partnering with organisations to explore new possibilities, solve complex problems, and build what’s next.

Our team brings together deep technical expertise and real-world experience to design, prototype, and deliver solutions that are both forward-thinking and commercially viable. From early-stage experimentation to scalable implementation, we help bridge the gap between concept and execution.

Driven by curiosity and collaboration, Ormeau Labs exists to test assumptions, accelerate learning, and create outcomes that matter.

Why work with us?

Doing work experience at Ormeau Labs offers hands-on exposure to real-world innovation and problem-solving. Students don’t just observe — they contribute to live projects and gain practical insight into how ideas move from concept to delivery. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, learning how research, technology, and experimentation are applied in professional settings.

Work experience at Ormeau Labs helps develop valuable skills including critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and technical capability. It also provides exposure to emerging technologies and modern ways of working, helping participants understand potential career pathways and build confidence in their abilities.

By the end of the placement, students leave with a clearer sense of their interests, a stronger CV, and meaningful experience within a supportive, forward-thinking team that values curiosity, learning, and fresh perspectives.
